How it started…
Elijah at the age of 6, in his fathers garden, asked what he could do to be the youngest person to eat the world’s hottest pepper. At that his father, gave him a hot banana pepper and said “Start here.”. That first bite sent Elijah running for water and began his love for hot peppers and hot sauces.

Not as hot as something like Mad Dog 357 or Da Bomb, but a very tolerant heat with amazing flavors.After you condition yourself to the heat, you can really taste flavors like the passion fruit in Regret.The ghost pepper one was not hot at all, but would be great as a salad dressing.The middle one (can’t remember the name as I’m writing this) was like a Tabasco on testosterone

The Ghost Pepper sauce has a nice long burn.The Reaper sauce is hotter but one of the best tasting sauces I have had.The Extreme Regret has good fire and good flavor. I have no regret purchasing this. I started to just order the Extreme Regret, but then I never would have tried the Reaper Sauce. If you are a pepperhead like me, you heve got to order this trio. You will be glad you tried it.

Xtreme Regret is the hottest, most flavorful sauce I’ve ever had. I just love it. The Ghost Pepper Sauce and Reaper Sauce are both outstanding as well. Seriously considering doing automatic deliveries! So good!!

These sauces are spicy, but with good flavor. A lot of sauces have Scoville levels that overpower flavor, but these have a nice kick, while still allowing enjoyment of different flavors. I particularly like the reaper sauce with the sweet Kentucky bourbon flavor. But don’t be fooled…these sauces are not for the faint of heart. Scoville ratings are still very high. I would order these again for myself, but would be extremely careful about giving them as gifts.

Beyond Paqui ghost pepper chips, I haven’t tried anything much hotter. I had meant for a while to try some sauces, but after a few cheap gift packs of several sauces I quickly realized I would need a little research. The majority of the cheap stuff has an extreme vinegar base, and the cheap “HOT” stuff has extracts, which is just too overpowering.I found this 3 pack and it sounded pretty good. Its great! The ghost pepper sauce DOES start with a fairly strong vinegar flavor, but it quickly dissipates into a richer very distinct ghost pepper taste.The Scorpion/Reaper sauce has NO underlying vinegar, it hits you in the face with the real deal. So far I’ve had these first two sauces with little drops on corn chips, or a few drops in a serving of my favorite chilis or tortilla soups. Its definitely too much for me currently if I put more than one drop on a chip, its my first reaper experience, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the flavor was, and that it doesn’t just taste like pain.The third sauce, the reaper/cherry sauce, is excellent!! So far I’ve just had drops of this on chips, and honestly it seems MUCH milder than even the ghost pepper sauce, but the mix of the sweet flavors they figured out for it is GREAT!Very happy with my first “high level spicy sauce’ experience!

In terms of Scoville Heat Units, the 3 sauces in this gift box are rated as follows (taken directly from the Elijah’s website):1. Xtreme Regret (800,000 SHU)2. Ghost Pepper Sauce (450,000 SHU)3. Reaper Sauce (350,000 SHU)The Reaper Sauce has Blackberries and a splash of Kentucky Bourbon, and it’s very sweet. You have to use a lot to get any heat from it, as the Reaper’s in this are very subtle. It’s rated at 350,000 Scoville Heat Units, but I think it’s much tamer than that number suggests. The flavor doesn’t go well with everything, but for any rice/stir fry dish it’s a perfect addition.Flavor wise, the Ghost Pepper sauce is easily my favorite! It’s rated at 400,000 Scoville Heat Units, but I don’t feel it’s as hot as some other sauces I’ve had in that range. It packs plenty of flavor, and a decent amount of heat that’s not overpowering. This sauce really goes well on everything. It’ll clear up your sinuses!The Xtreme Regret certainly lives up to it’s name! The flavor is bold, and the heat is terrific and should please any extra hot fans. It’s rated at 800,000 Scoville Units, and I agree with this measurement. The heat lingers in your mouth for about 20 minutes after you’re done eating, so be aware of this going in. If you use a very small amount, you can minimize this duration to about 5-10 minutes of lingering heat. I’d definitely recommend starting with a small dab before you work your way up to a larger amount.Xtreme Regret is my go to for burritos, tacos, or anything that I want to add some heat to (like spicy black beans, refried beans, soups, chili’s, etc). The Ghost Pepper Sauce I’m finding myself using that on just about everything. I will definitely be purchasing the Xtreme Regret and the Ghost Pepper Sauce again! Thanks Elijah’s!

I just received my package. Very impressed with the presentation and packaging. Getting dinner ready soon and will dive in for tasting. Can’t wait. After I did the Paqui One Chip Challenge my taste buds are not satisfied anymore. Hope this does the trick.Update: Just had dinner with some Ghost Pepper sauce. WOW. Very similar to Melindas Ghost Pepper brand. Full of flavor and didn’t hold back. Will be buying more. Can’t wait to try the other two.
