So, like most who even contemplate purchasing this sauce, I’ve always been one to add some heat to most of my food. Whether it’s pepper, cayenne pepper, crushed red pepper, Franks, Texas Pete’s, or Taco Bell’s Fire sauce (not hot, but absolutely delicious!!). I was in “a little kick” bliss. But it wasn’t until 2016 that I would realize that there is a whole other BEAUTIFUL world of actual HOT sauces!! The sauce that started it all was my friends bottle of Dave’s Gourmet Ghost Pepper Sauce!! My eyes were opened!! Even if they were a little watery, I could still see that I had been missing out! It also opened my eyes to my tolerance to heat! Done all the death nut challenges with ease (wasn’t necessarily fun, but it wasn’t torture like it was for everyone else!), ate 3 of the 1 chip challenges, blah blah blah, I’m amazing, you get the point! LOL! Anyway, I’ve been using a lot of Satan’s Blood (as an additive, not a sauce!!!) and a lot of different reaper sauces lately. I love’em all, but decided to go back to Dave’s Gourmet sauces after I saw they had a reaper sauce! I got the Super Spicy 3 pack which included Dave’s Insanity Sauce, Dave’s Reaper Sauce and the Dave’s Gourmet Ghost Pepper Sauce from my past. Due to nostalgia, I decide to use the ghost pepper sauce first. I tried to twist the cap off with the plastic protective seal still attached, to kill 2 birds with one stone, but it didn’t work, so I peeled off the seal and shook the bottle. Yeah, I completely forgot I had loosened the cap!! Ghost pepper sauce everywhere!!! Including up my nose!! That is DEFINITELY not fun!! After a thorough nose cleaning, I cleaned up all of the sauce…or so I thought! Turns out some had gotten on the underside of a burner on the stove!! This was, unfortunately, found out by my roommates, who told me that soon after they turned the stove on, It was like someone threw a can of teargas into the house! It sent them running out of the house and even made one of them throw up!! The important thing is that I still had 3/4’s of the ghost pepper sauce left! I was truly worried it was a, near, total loss! Dave’s makes some awesome sauces! They’re serious hot sauces too! Just ask my roommates!!

Wow on the heat scale these really deliver. I hate hot sauce that claims to be hot like Melindas and turns out to be made for gringos. This is the best hot sauce I’ve found yet.

I’ve been searching for a sauce hot enough for my son for quite some time. This is it. Ultimate insanity. I’ve found his go to gift for as long as they keep producing this sauce. He loves it, and it will last awhile because he can only add 3-4 drops per entire meal! He puts it in soups/stews, in his dipping sauce for fries or chicken strips, even in Mac n cheese. And apparently the flavor of what I cook doesn’t matter anymore because it will all taste like this sauce to him and he loves it. I’m quite concerned about his stomach lining… but his heart is happy. He likes the ghost pepper and Serrano sauces but not as much as the ultimate. He uses those to mix his own concoction when he wants a little less insanity. It’s truly insane how hot this is and that I found a hot sauce that makes him as happy as this does. If only I’d known sooner. If you want a sauce that very very few can handle this one is it! AND the flavor is spot on also, (not too much vinegar like some others) if you’ve got taste buds left after eating it you’ll want more. Great gift set for the insane!

Recently I’ve been craving spice, and I mean SPICE. I wanted my nose to be running by the time I was done, but I didn’t want to buy concentrated powders or peppers and risk it in my eyes or something of the sort. A hot sauce can be mixed into sauces and broths with ease, and I love when my ramen is hot as sin.I did a preliminary test on all with a little drop on the end of a couple toothpicks- just enough to get a feel for the spice. In the end, I thought the Carolina Reaper was actually not as bad as the Ghost Pepper. And, while I stand by the assessment that Ghost Pepper hurts more than it is spicy, Carolina Reaper was not less hot than the Ghost Pepper.I learned this, when I put half a teaspoons worth of hot sauce into a bowl of ramen (I add things like Kewpie and Egg, so it had ample extra items to subdue it) and I ate more than 3 bites and my throat started to feel like it was swelling. It’s actually so hot it’s unenjoyable if you do not dose correctly. PLEASE be careful, you will think you can stand it and if you are not practiced in the ways of spice, you will not. I think a drop or two is genuinely enough if you are more comfortable with a Habanero level spiceOn the other two sauces, Ghost Pepper as always, just hurts. I find it feels like I have a hot food just sitting on my tongue. The spice isn’t unbearable, rather its painful. Practice caution as usual, but this pepper is well known in spice.The Insanity sauce is a Perfect balance of spice- hot enough to be just enjoyable and a challenge. I recommend only two or three drops to a dipping sauce, and taste test otherwise.Downside is, out of all these spices, the flavor on this one is definitely the worst. I add this to barbecue and it’s pretty noticeably smoky in a very manufactured spice kind of way. I think if you just want the spice then go crazy, but if you’re aiming for flavor, have something ready to cover the flavor. All are relatively nasty, but this one was notable.OVERALL: Spicy! Dave’s not screwing around with this one. Carolina Reaper maintains it’s stop as the hottest pepper, and Ghost Pepper still just… Hurts. Insanity sauce is a perfect midway with a bad flavor.PLEASE NOTE: The bottles are about 4 or so inches tall? They are not terribly large, but they pack a punch so it’s not necessary.

I tried the daves insanity sauce about 15 years ago and couldn’t find it again for a while and for a good price .I just thought I’d look for it on Amazon and I found it for a very great price. This stuff is crazy hot and I really like it.

Overall, I’m very happy, hence the 5-star rating. The one negative observation is that my Ghost pepper sauce isn’t as hot (claimed to be “Insane++”) is not as hot as the original Insanity sauce (rated “Instant” hot). I suspect it is just do to batch-to-batch fluctuations. That said, they are all quite hot and have pretty good flavors, so I will definitely order again when I get low.
