This is one of the better gifts that is both purposeful and unique. I really love the actual bottles for show of your hot sauce. It’s also one of those gifts that you can pick your favorite brand and style of tequila to infuse in the hot sauce. The bottles are just beautiful. There are different peppers you can infuse it with and you can always get more creative and use different flavors outside of the kit. That said, it’s really one of those gifts you can just ship as is for Christmas or birthdays or even a housewarming. The ideas are endless really. After you use hot sauce, you can use these bottles for anything else! They could even just be decorative vases for a shelf. It’s $40 at the time of review, which is a bit steep, but what nice gifts that you don’t have to work for come cheap?

The Thoughtfully Gourmet hot sauce kit comes in a thick, glossy, colorful box which makes an awesome gift for the hot sauce lover in your life. When my wife remarked about it making a great gift for someone in our family, it forced me to respond with “Sorry. It’s for me.” There’s a recipe card inside with two recipes, but you can vary them to make your own unique creations. Both recipes start with the same base. To infuse the base, you need a shot of tequilla, a shot of vinegar, and a few of the included peppers. The more peppers you add, the hotter it gets. The base infuses for ten days and then it’s ready to blend with your favorite ingredients such as tomatoes, garlic, carrot juice, etc. The decanters are larger than I expected and look to hold perhaps five or six ounces. They also have a leak proof stopper in case of a tip over. Once you try this, you’ll be wanting to infuse your own from the garden to the table concoctions. Consider using ingredients like dijon, molasses, dry mustard, etc.

It doesn’t matter if you want to give this as it is, or make the sauce and give the sauce as a gift. The included bottles are gorgeous and anyone would love to have them. But none of that would make any difference if the end product was a dud. Thankfully, this set makes a nice mean hot sauce. As you would expect, the tequila isn’t included.I like that the recipes have wiggle room so that you can truly make them your own.Really fun and great quality.

I couldn’t wait to get started on these chili sauces! This is a perfectly presented gift box with most of what you need to make multiple jars of hot sauce. There are enough dried chili peppers, ancho powder and cayenne powder to repeat the recipes several times. The kit contains two ceramic jars (unique and lovely quality) for storing your hot sauce, small funnels, gloves and the dried chilis (3 different varieties) plus seasoning packets (ancho and cayenne). There are two recipes, a Chipotle House Sauce and Mixed Pepper Hot Sauce. You’ll need extra ingredients to make both sauces. Both sauces call for an initial 10 day infusion. For the infusion you’ll need Tequila Blanco, white vinegar and glass jars. I’ve included a photo of my two jars which I started today. I plan to update this review once the sauces are made! After the infusion you’ll also need some other ingredients which are as follows: salt, carrot, canned diced tomatoes, white onion, garlic cloves and lemon juice.

This set is very well presented. It would make a wonderful gift for the hot sauce lovers on your list. It comes in a really pretty, sturdy, colorful box that matches the pretty containers. Included are a total of 5 spices and pepper packets, a funnel with gloves, and a couple of recipe cards. (My husband and I are both tequila lovers so we thought the hot sauce was actually very tasty.) The best thing about this gift is the cute ceramic bottles that are included to make the hot sauce. They are so pretty and of really good quality. It’s something that I will use over and over again. This is a really unique idea and would make a wonderful gift, especially for Christmas! I do highly recommend!

My dad loves hot sauce and when I saw this I knew he would love it. So, naturally I had to purchase this for him and he absolutely loved it! He was so excited to get started! I caught him trying to put it together later that night! lol

It is an all in one kit. Except alcohol, it includes everything else, including seasonings, tools, and containers. I can use this kit to make my own hot sauce at home. With the recipe card, it becomes easier. I really like the two ceramic bottles, which are made with good quality, also looking very cute and delicate. It is a new experience to try this at home. I really enjoy it.

I’ve always been interested in making my own hot sauce, but looking at recipes online just didn’t really give me what I was looking for. When I saw this set I was intrigued by the idea of making my own tequila infused hot sauce. This has almost everything you need to make MULTIPLE batches of hot sauce and includes a recipe card for two different sauces. One was a basic hot sauce with only a carrot for an extra ingredient. The other called for more items, including a 22 oz can of diced tomatoes. I’m not a fan of tomato based hot sauce, and that just seemed like way too many. I opted to just make a double batch of the basic sauce. I purchased some tequila and added a shot, along with a shot of vinegar, to some jars with the included dried peppers. After 10 days of soaking, I was ready to get to the sauce. The rest of the recipe called for a carrot, water, the included cayenne powder and some salt. Once blended together, I tasted it and was already hooked. I boiled for 15 minutes to not only cook the mixture, but also cook off the alcohol. Once it was cool I decided not to strain it because I wanted a thicker sauce. I was able to fill one of the really cool looking containers all the way up and another about half way. It is a bit saltier than I would like, so I think next time I can reduce the salt some. I’m already going to have to start infusing more peppers and tequila because I don’t see this first batch lasting me long at all. One of the best parts of this whole kit is the amount of peppers you get. If using the exact amount listed for the recipe, I’d say there’s enough to make a total of 10 batches, give or take. I wouldn’t be surprised if each bag of dried peppers went by weight, so there could be more or less, depending. This is really a great kit and perfect to give as a gift, or for yourself. I’m all in on making hot sauce now and can’t wait to experiment more with the remaining ingredients.
