I’ve been an entomophagist for the past few years. I’ve enjoyed grasshoppers before, but they were always too dehydrated and dry, although very tasty. I saw that these had no reviews, so I was really wary about buying them at first, but I took a gamble and bought ’em, and oh man, I’m glad I did.These are the best chapulines I’ve ever had. The quality is out of this world. The grasshoppers vary in age, so they all seem to come in different sizes which makes them very fun to eat. I would just reach my hand in and see what I’d grab. They are marinated and air-tight sealed in the bag and they come with little pieces of adobo and I think garlic? All the true, natural spices are right there in the bag with them, which gives them an even more authentic feel. The crunch isn’t too dry because of the marination and freshness, so they are super satisfying to pop in and chew.I’m seriously blown away. I’m so glad I bought these and I’m seriously going to order like ten more, they are so addictive. The ONLY issue I have with them is that sometimes I’ll want to grab a handful, but some of the herbs/spices join the little morsels and some of them can be a little bitter. They’re okay to eat too, but I’m looking for that protein. So because of this I sometimes have to separate some of the spice leaves/pepper/garlic, etc from the grasshoppers and all their detached legs, which I still consume. Because the spices add to the unique flavor, I don’t really think they should be removed, so it’s a bit of a take what you can get situation.All-in-all, I love to eat chapulines, and these are my new favorite kind. I’ll be getting more before I even finish this bag. If you’re new to entomophagy, I actually recommend these big time. They can be intimidating, but because they’re so delicious, they’re the perfect gateway bug.Try them, for real.
